Thank
you for taking time to learn a little bit more about us. Considering an adoption
plan shows incredible strength and love for your child and is a truly selfless
act. We hope the following pages give you a brief snapshot of who we are and help
you feel confident that your child will be warmly welcomed into our loving and
secure home. |
About
Us We first met in college where we were both studying set design. As we
pursued our dreams of working professionally in theater, film and TV,we were reconnected
through friends. It didn’t take long to discover that we both had adventurous
spirits with many interests in common. Travel is a passion we share. We
are always looking for somewhere new to explore and something new to learn. There
are plenty of opportunities for that, with frequent visits to our families on
both the east and west coasts. Having a child in our lives to share our adventures
is something we are looking forward to. |

 | We
also enjoy the more quiet times we spend together. Whether it’s making a big breakfast
on Sunday morning, sitting by the fireplace on a winter day or roasting marshmallows
in the back yard on a summer’s night, we enjoy every minute we spend together.
We are the best of friends and have been happily married for 6 years. Early
on in our relationship we talked about our desire to someday have children. It
is exciting for us to have the opportunity to start a family of our own through
adoption. |

Our Home We live in a lovely rural lakeside community where neighbors look
out for each other. We wake up to the sounds of birds, but we are only a half hour
from the nearest city where there are plenty of cultural and sporting events year
round. Our community supports many family based activities. |
Our
house is located on a hill surrounded by a large yard providing plenty of opportunities
for playing, exploring and, of course, sledding in the winter. We bought our spacious
home with the idea of one day filling it with family, friends, love and laughter.
There are plenty of windows that fill the rooms with sunshine and give us sweeping
views of the lake. Our local schools are some of the best in the country.
With modern facilities and dedicated teachers, our district has won many awards
for excellence. |

Laura
by Rob Wow-where do I begin? Laura is about the most open and honest person
I’ve ever met. Just ask anyone who knows her. It’s apparent from the first time
you meet her-she absolutely radiates warmth and affection, putting a smile on
your face, and making you feel as if you’re one of the family, right from the
start. Laura is very creative by nature. After college, she put her artistic talents
to good use. She moved to New York City and worked as a Set Dresser and Decorator
on several Films and TV Shows. I always thought it was cool to get tours of sound
stages, or go to invited previews of movies that she worked on, and see her name
in the credits! When we relocated to the country, she left that work behind and
now works as a project manager for a local design firm with a different group
of very creative people. Now to keep piling on, Laura is also very athletic.
She started running cross country and track in high school, and hasn’t stopped
since. To this day, she’ll get up early and “go for a run”, no matter the season.
I’ve not only seen her compete, but win many races. I love that inner drive. Then
there’s Aunt Laura. She’s equally as comfortable playing princess with her nieces,
as she is bicycling with her nephews. It just doesn’t matter. Their happiness
is what’s important. A visit from her is a treat for all. And there are
the things she does, just because. Things like baking Christmas cookies and cinnamon
almonds to hand out to neighbors and coworkers every year at the holidays. And
the countless hours she volunteers building and painting the sets for the local
high school and community theaters. Or how she organizes her family reunions.
I can keep going on, but I think you get the idea-she really is something special.
Laura has been, and continues to be, a blessing to me, our family, our
friends and most certainly for any child lucky enough to have her as a mom. |

Rob
by Laura In a single word, Rob is awesome. But a single word cannot express
how blessed I feel to have him as my husband. No matter who you ask, they will
tell you that Rob is a generous, caring, supportive and fun-loving guy. When I
first met Rob I was drawn to his quick wit and remarkable laugh. He cracks me
up every day. He is truly a kid at heart which makes him a favorite among our
nephews and nieces. He will make a wonderful father. Rob is a very level-headed
guy who has a calming effect on people. This explains how he spent 15 years volunteering
in local emergency services as an EMT and ambulance driver. His positive outlook
on any situation is uplifting. Rob designs scenery for theater and is admired
and respected by his peers for his artistry and hard work. I am constantly in
awe of his creativity both in his work and in our everyday lives. He is fortunate
to be able to work from home, but his projects are seen throughout the country.
He works on many cool productions that take him behind the scenes. He looks forward
to someday showing a child that magical world. Rob’s interests vary widely
from participating in outdoor activities—golf, skiing, hiking—to looking at the
stars through his telescope. He also enjoys working on home improvement projects
and has many great plans for making our basement into a full family fun center,
complete with a pool table. In the spring and summer he likes to try out new varieties
of flowers and vegetables in our gardens. One of his favorite “activities” is
napping. He loves to curl up under the covers on a cold winter day and fall asleep
watching a football game. |

| Our Family and Friends We
come from small but close knit families who are the most important part of our
lives. Everyone is thrilled about the addition of a baby through open adoption.
They will provide a strong network of love and support throughout the child’s
life. There will be many cousins from toddlers to teenagers to provide companionship. We
gather at holidays and at every possible opportunity to share laughs, stories,
and of course, lots of food! One family member we cannot forget to include
is our adopted dog, Daisy, who showed up at our door one summer day and never
left. Daisy is a people lover and is very good around children. She wants nothing
more than to take us on a long walk every day and have her belly rubbed. |
