These are some of the things we are looking forward to in our new family. Thanks for reading our profile. We want you to know how we want to grow our family and the things that are really important to us: family, friends and, of course, lots and lots of fun. We want to offer a child a safe and secure future and give him or her the tools needed to be happy and successful.

Chip and Ben

Ben on Chip:

The things I love about Chip:

  • He is a great dad!
  • He is enthusiastic and he loves adventures.
  • He is athletic and handsome.
  • He knows so much about kids and families, which is why he is such a great family therapist.
  • He loves the outdoors: hiking, running, sailing, camping, or just counting stars at night.
  • He is my best friend.

Chip on Ben:

The things I love about Ben:

  • His big blue eyes and his warm and caring smile.
  • He is very, very smart. He loves books, ideas, and music.
  • He is a great doctor and he cares for many sick patients in the hospital.
  • He loves kids! And he has always wanted to have children. Now he wants more!
  • He loves to read out loud. He also loves to sing (even though his voice is terrible!)
  • He is a better cook than my mother!

About Us:

We live in a house that is in the woods, but we live in the city of Boston! There is lots of space and quiet here — so we can walk the dog and have nice relaxed cookouts on the back deck. After dinner every night, we take Charlotte (our dog) for a long walk. We have a big warm fireplace for the wintertime, and we live next door to a park which is great in the spring, summer, and fall. We go there to play catch with Charlotte, or to learn about trees and nature, or just to unwind and watch people skate past us.

Ben is a doctor in Boston. He takes care of very sick patients in the hospital, but also sees a lot of healthier people in his office. His work in infectious diseases lets us travel to other parts of the world (we’ve been to Vietnam, South Africa, Tanzania, and we want to continue to explore the whole world). He loves to teach medical students — he’s been teaching for over ten years. He’s lucky enough to be at the stage in his career where he can come home and cook dinner almost every night!

Chip is a therapist in Boston. He spends a lot of time with families who are having a rough time, and he really enjoys working with both kids and adults. Charlotte, our dog, comes to work with him every day to help — the kids just love her! He works with a lot of kids who’ve been adopted, and so he’s really tuned in to how they can feel about growing up and learning about how and why their adoption happened. His schedule is very flexible, and he is able to run errands and spend time at home every day.

We adopted our daughter Ellie last year and she has brought so much joy into our lives! She has taught us so much about being parents, and she makes us want to have a bigger and richer family. She is going to be a great big sister!

Together:

  • We love each other very much.
  • We love raising our daughter and want to have more children.
  • We love to travel, to be outside, or to stay home and read together when it’s cold or rainy.
  • We cook and do dishes together.
  • Both of our jobs are about helping people who are hurting — we give each other a lot of support every night at dinner!
  • We have a beautiful dog named Charlotte, who loves kids.
  • We have wonderful families who support us as happy and healthy parents.

Now, we feel like we have a warm home, steady and secure jobs, wonderful and supportive friends and families to help us raise children to be safe, healthy, happy, and secure. We feel we can give so much to a child, and adding more children to our lives is something we are so excited about. We’re counting the days until this happens!

Creating a family through adoption is a challenge and an adventure — both! Our experience adopting Ellie has taught us so much about the importance of patience, trust, and shared values. If you would like to remain a part of your child's life, we welcome that from the bottom of our hearts. We think you’ll be so important in helping to explain how adoption can be such a loving gift. Of course, we know that this is going to be a growing process, but we hope we can all grow up feeling comfortable with our big extended family, and how it came to be.

Thanks for reading our profile and considering us. We wish you much love on your journey
